Every year the Challenger organization puts forth every effort to make the annual benefit golf tournament a successful and memorable experience for all who particpate and support the Challenger athletes. This nike earnings year we have found ourselves in a very difficult position. Due to circumstances beyond our control, the tournament scheduled for June 26 at Botetourt Country Club has been rescheduled with a new date and new location. Challenger Little League is a nonprofit division of Little League Baseball that provides boys and girls 5 18 years of age, with mental and/or physical disabilities, the opportunity to experience the fun of playing baseball. Challenger Baseball allow every child to experience the rewards of being part of an athletic team while motivating and increasing emotional development, high self esteem, confidence, and pride regardless of ability. The Challenger Little League Baseball program has been blessed to offer this program at very minimal expense to the families of Challenger athletes. Unlike other divisions of Little League, the Challenger program provides registration fees, team uniforms, trophies, and many other benefits. The positive and rewarding experience of the Challenger program is constantly being spread throughout the Roanoke Valley. Our baseball family has continued to grow since 1989. As word of the benefits and rewards of the program travel, the hope is for all children with limitations to have a chance for the future. The Challenger program's success is due largely to the generosity and support of individuals, businesses, and organizations through the Roanoke Valley.
